HEALTH CARE

Service provided by health centres

tiklaspuisto1There are six health centres in Vaasa. Persons should seek the services of their local health centre and see their personal doctor.

In urgent cases, a nurse will assess your treatment needs and if necessary, will refer you to a doctor.

If your problem is not urgent you will be offered consultation with a nurse or an appointment with your doctor. Moreover, consultation can be provided by phone. A nurse will assess your treatment needs. You might need to see a doctor; otherwise the nurse gives you self-care tips to help you take care of the situation at home.

BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DOCTOR AT YOUR LOCAL HEALTH CENTRE FOR:

• Non-urgent mental health care

• Non-urgent illness requiring medical examination or medical care

• Follow-up for chronic diseases

• Prescription renewals if an appointment is needed

• Results of x-ray and lab tests if an appointment is needed

• Medical certificates

If you need follow-up treatment, your doctor will give you a referral to an appropriate level of care.

Prescription renewals

- Use services provided at your own health station to get prescription renewals

- Prescriptions can also be renewed for patients of other health centres, if there is information about the medication in the case records

- Private doctor’s prescriptions can be renewed if the health station is informed about your treatment plan. In the case that there is no such information and you prefer to use the services provided by the health centre, please book an appointment

- Prescription renewals for sedatives and tranquillizers require a treatment plan set up with your doctor

- You can pick up your renewed prescription after seven days

BOOK AN APPOINTMENT FOR CONSULTATION WITH A NURSE FOR:

• sick leave for influenza or stomach flu
