Vaasa City Library is open for everyone, and its use is free of charge. The library collections include books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, videotapes and DVDs. Most of the material is available for home loans.
In addition to the departments at the Main Library, customers are served by five branch libraries in different parts of the City, and also one mobile library.
A library card is needed for borrowing
You can get the free library card simply by proving your identity with photo-ID. Children under 15 years of age need the consent of a guardian. The guardian has to be present when the card is issued.
When you get your library card, you will also receive a PIN code, which can be used as a password for the library's web services, for example, the Venny Web Library. The password is also needed when using the lending machines.
The Internet can be used at all the libraries free of charge.
Venny Web Library renewals and reservations
The library's online catalogue, Venny Web Library, contains information about all the books, music, magazines and audiovisual materials that are included in the Vaasa City Library's collection.
You can renew your loans and reserve new items by logging in to the Venny Web Library with your library card number and your personal PIN code.
