Physiotherapy in Vaasa City Hospital wards

The goal of physiotherapy in the wards of Vaasa City Hospital is to provide the skills needed for coping with the challenges of mobility in the home environment.

After an examination, a doctor will set out a physiotherapy plan, which forms part of the overall rehabilitation plan. In addition to physiotherapy, the patient’s needs for mobility aids are also assessed in the ward and, if necessary, a home visit to the patient’s home is made.

Physical therapy is included in the price charged for the time spent in the ward.

Evaluation and Respite Care Ward 6

Patients are referred to the ward mainly from the home care service, through the initiative of relatives, the memory coordinator, the social worker or the SAS nurse through a medical referral.

A patient’s circumstances in the home will be investigated if the patient’s ability to cope there has diminished. The goal is to find methods by which the patient can be supported in their home.

A patient coming for respite care will come to the ward as scheduled for health monitoring, rehabilitation, or to support the caregiver. The time that the patient receives respite care alternates with the time they are at home according to an agreed schedule, but most of the time is at home.

Rehabilitation Ward 9

Patients come to the ward for either specialist or primary-care treatment with a referral from a doctor.

The patient’s ability to move and function has been impaired, for example due to cerebrovascular trauma, fracture, inflammation or permanent illness.

Physiotherapy is included in ward rehabilitation with a referral from a doctor and is part of intensive multiprofessional rehabilitation.
