Corona infections at Variska School and Keskuskoulu primary school - a total of 83 quarantined after exposures

One person at Variska school and two people at Keskuskoulu primary school have tested positive for the coronavirus on 27 January. A total of 83 people were potentially exposed to the virus.

The staff of both Vaasa schools, the quarantined pupils and the guardians of all the pupils at both schools have been informed of the incident.

One coronavirus infection was discovered at Variska school and a total of 17 pupils and 3 adults are in quarantine. Two coronavirus infections were discovered at Keskuskoulu and 57 pupils and 6 adults have been quarantined.

– Work to identify potential exposures was initiated as soon as information on the infection became available. All those exposed have been traced and quarantined. The teaching of quarantined students is handled through distance learning, says school director Kari Nummela.
