Coronavirus infection at Alma Adult Education Institute in Vaasa

On 20 January 2021, a student attending the Alma Adult Education Institute tested positive for a coronavirus infection. The members of the group attending the same course as the student, and all teachers and instructors associated with the group, have been placed in quarantine until 24 January. A total of 32 people are now placed in quarantine, 8 of whom are members of staff.

The student was last at the school at Raastuvankatu 31 on Friday, 15 January, 2021.

All groups on basic adult education courses whose teachers and instructors were exposed were moved to distance learning on 20 January 2021. Distance learning will continue until 29 January. The infection that was discovered has not affected other groups.

Vaasa-opisto and Vasa Arbis merged on 1 January 2021. The name of the new, bilingual institute is officially given in Finnish and Swedish; Vaasan kansalaisopisto Alma – Vasa medborgarinstitut Alma.
