Sports halls and gyms can accommodate up to 20 people at a time in the same place

A maximum of 20 people can gather at the same time at sports facilities managed by the City of Vaasa. The order is based on the recommendation published by the Ostrobothnia Corona Coordination Group on 4 November.

Club and sports trainings at sports facilities are considered private events because they are not open to the public and do not have an audience. It is now recommended that a maximum of 20 people can attend private events instead of the former 10.

The sports facilities managed by the Sports Services of the City of Vaasa include the Sports Center, sports halls, the Silveria sports facilities, the Teeriniemi civil defence shelter and school gymnastic halls for evening use.

– For example, if a sports hall is divided into two parts by a partition, a maximum of 20 people can train in each part. However, groups must not meet at any stage, for example when entering and leaving the hall, or stay in the changing rooms at the same time, says sports director Mika Lehtonen.

The new recommendation is valid until 13 November 2020. The decision is based on the current risk assessment of coronavirus infection. The next time the corona coordination group will review their decision will be on Tuesday, 10 November 2020.
