Vanha Vaasa Primary School will move to distance learning on 12 March. A person attending the school tested positive for the coronavirus on 11 March. Since all the pupils in the school travel on the same buses to Palosaari every day, the whole school will move to distance learning.

The two classes at Vanha Vaasa school have been quarantined according to the instructions of the health authorities. A total of 28 pupils and 3 adults have been quarantined.

Vanha Vaasa school is located in temporary facilities at the former Palosaari school. Therefore, all the pupils use chartered buses for their school transport.

–  In accordance with the health authority’s recommendation, the entire school will switch to distance education from the 12 to19 March because the classes on buses and in taxis are mixed. Therefore, it is very difficult to specify which students may have been exposed, says school director Kari Nummela.
