The 2022 Night of the Arts was full of atmosphere, wonderful performances, art and music. In total, the event was estimated to have about 35,000 visitors and more than 230 program numbers.

“The night of the Arts event was really successful for us. We at Wasa Wellness didn’t even know to expect a record number of visitors, it completely surprised us. It’s wonderful that people had set off and tried everything new,” says wellness entrepreneur Tiina Kaukonen from Wasa Wellness.

The team behind the event

The goal of Night of the Arts is to bring art to the streets of Vaasa and to give all culture enthusiasts the most equal opportunities to participate, perform and work. Last year, the cultural services event team included six people. Pia Kokko, last year’s event planner wanted to bring a carnival feel to the Night of the Arts. A carnival procession was organized for the first time at the event, in which a total of 11 ensembles participated. The procession gathered a large audience and it is hoped that it will continue in the future as well.

“People have rediscovered the event and the carnival atmosphere was incredible. The new carnival procession was a success and the public found the route all the way to the library,” Kokko says.

A wide range of program in the vaasa area

Last year the event venues were scattered all over the city. Among other things, the city hall, Vaasa city library, the barracks area, Vaasa church and its park, the cultural center in Fanny and the market had a variety of programming, such as dance, art, music, theater performances and presentation of organizations.

“The night of the arts went great at Kipinä, it’s wonderful when the barracks area has a lot of activity! The night of the arts is a wonderful, traditional event that brings the people of Vaasa together,” Tanssikoulu Kipinä CEO Ida Jousmäki says.

There were enough visitors for all and the event providers were satisfied with the course of the event.

“There were a lot of people on the move, people were in a good mood and were genuinely involved in the atmosphere. There was definitely something for everyone and much more,” says musician Pasi Luoma about the music ensembles of Rakkaus Pimeä Puoli and duo Viulu & Cajo.
