Paavo Arhinmäki is hosting a graffiti competition for local politicians on the Night of the Arts at Wasa Graffitilandia.
The Vasa Left Alliance has challenged local representatives of the political parties to a good-natured graffiti competition during Art Night. The competition is guided by Finland’s only “graffiti mayor,” long-time left-wing politician Paavo Arhinmäki. The graffiti competition will be held on Thursday, 13 August 2026, from 4–6 pm, on the outdoor terrace of Wasa Graffitilandia, at Opistokatu 8, Vaasa. The event is open to everyone and free of charge.
So far, the Left Alliance, the SDP, and the Greens are taking part in the competition. Confirmed participants so far are Dan Bäckman and Vera Sui (Left Alliance), Jaana Kilpiö and Jasmin Granholm (SDP), and Lotta Alhonnoro, Charlotta Ekman, and Aapo Virtanen (Greens). Expect a great atmosphere, politics, graffiti art, and music, plus the chance to see local politicians and parliamentary candidates with a spray can in hand, stepping outside their usual roles.
