Vaasa turns 420! There will be a programme for all ages.
2 October 2026 marks the 420th anniversary of Vaasa’s founding. The anniversary programme offers a wide range of ways to join in the celebrations, including open days, exhibitions, workshops, sports and exercise, cultural activities and special offers and benefits.
Highlights:
– A video about Vaasa’s history and a talk on the power of happiness at Ritz on 1 October (advance registration)
– Pepe Willberg’s anniversary concert at City Hall on 1 October
-️ Open House on 2 October at Culture House Fanny and two daycare centres: Palosaari Daycare and Gustavsborg Daycare, all recently renovated
– ️ Free admission to the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Old Vaasa on 2 October
– Valphabet – Vaasa’s Own Alphabet workshop at the main library on 2 October
– Traffic park is open to children on 2 October
– Planting an English oak in Old Vaasa to mark the anniversary on 2 October
– Discounted tickets for the musical Tinakenkätyttö on 3 October
