The rich cultural life of Vaasa provides some twenty museums, from modern arts to engines, as well as many music happenings. There are also many theatres and theatre groups in Vaasa. It is a city of museums, music, theatre, dance arts and handicrafts.

Vaasa City Library (1794) was the first common library founded in Finland.
