Colors – Observations on Light

Article categories: Museums & Folklore

The exhibition hall Tempus at Jakobstad Museum will be filled with glass in all colors this June as the exhibition Color

This touring exhibition, curated by The Finnish Glass Museum, offers insight into the nuances of glass and the techniques used to create it. Eight beloved glass colors guide us into the world of color: clear, opal, green, red, amethyst, yellow, blue, and gray.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore how colors have been developed at various glassworks and how they help convey the stories of glass objects. The experience of color is always personal, and in Colors – Observations on Light, we explore the meanings of colors through familiar glass items.

The exhibition features a diverse selection of glass art and design by some of Finland’s most significant artists. Their work has, in one way or another, reshaped our understanding of glass art and inspired experimentation with color.

The objects are on loan from the collection of The Finnish Glass Museum.
