Museum Thursday in Rofhöks. A discussion about children's rights

On the last Museum Thursday this autumn we will focus on the rights of children, as this week we celebrate the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child from 1989. The purpose of the Convention is to guarantee all children their human rights, regardless of background. The reason for the Convention being created is that throughout time many have had a very unsafe childhood, particularly during chaotic periods like war and epidemics. At the same time views on parenting and discipline in daily life have varied, while school has not been guaranteed for everybody in Finland prior to Finnish independence. With all this in mind and to honour the Convention, we will on Thursday discuss childhood and the rights of children, both in the past and present. Welcome to Rofhöks at 12-15 o’clock.
