Come and visit Vaasa’s museums during Night of the Arts to experience versatile and fascinating art!

Exhibitions at our museums:

Ostrobothnian Museum:
> Contemporary exhibition: Inkeri Julkunen and other Naïve Artists – Experience naivist art style in various ways in terms of motifs, style and technique. The artists are either self-taught or have formal artistic training. Generally, naivism is narrative, colourful and humorous – some of the art works depict street and landscapes of Vaasa.

> Permanent exhibitions:
Vaasa 400 – Take a journey through the city’s 400-year-long history.

Terranova – Natural History Exhibition about the World Heritage Site of the Kvarken Archipelago, the ice age, marine nature and animals.

Treasures from Near and Beyond the Seas – Famous local doctor Karl Hedman with his wife Elin Hedman collected a significant collection of Finnish and international art as well as jewellery and antique items. In the art galleries you can find works by famous artists such as Albert Edelfelt, Helene Schjerfbeck, Hugo Simberg, Akseli Gallen-Kallela, Tyko Sallinen, and bunch of others! One can also find the Silver, money and medal collection by the memorial hall!

Ostrobothnia Australis – 100 years with nature on front – one of the oldest Finnish nature-based associations that works on all kinds of nature-based projects in the Ostrobothnian region.

Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art:
– Ulrika Ferm – Weather(ing):
The solo exhibition focuses on the weather. In her latest drawings, the artist has depicted the cloud formations seen from her artist residency -studio as a series. Along that she has video installations and pictures that capture both Irish fog and Armenian weather metaphors.

– Interferences:
The group exhibition includes art from nine different artists. The featured artists are either currently students at Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts or alumni. Interferences is an exhibition that takes classical elements; earth, air, water and fire and brings out the aspects of nature that the artists hold dear to them.

Ostrobothnian Museum, Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art are both open between 15 and 21 and have free entrance the whole evening.
