Welcome to the Shipyard – a living piece of maritime history!
Have you ever stood next to a real tall sailing ship? Or wondered how Finland managed to build 91 ships in just seven years after the war? Then the Shipyard in the Old Harbour of Jakobstad is a must-see for you this summer! Or maybe you want to board the 18th-century galeas Jacobstads Wapen?

Experience maritime history this summer!
We’re open on weekdays from 10 AM to 4 PM until August 1st, 2025.
Step aboard Vega and Jacobstads Wapen – two unique sailing ships.
Skeppsgården offers genuine maritime craftsmanship and history.
In addition to guided tours of Vega and Jacobstads Wapen, you can:

• Learn how to throw a lifebuoy
• Practice knot tying
• Lift sacks using blocks and pulleys
• Learn about signal flags and hoist your own combinations on a small mast

Coming soon:
• Take a photo dressed as a sailor
• Try out the sailor’s dance “jungfrudans”
