A career in music – Feasta brings a music panel to Vaasa Main Library

Published: 7.11.2025

How does a hobby become a career? That’s the topic of the Feasta music panel discussion, to be held on Wednesday 26 November 2025 at 18.00 in the Draama Room of Vaasa Main Library.

The panellists will include Klamydia guitarist and long-time teacher Sami ‘Silttu’ Sillanpää, singer-songwriter Joni Salomaa from Vaasa palaa, lighting and sound technician Janne Kaikkonen, and Yle sound engineer, recording technician and mixer Pasi Keho-Valkama. The discussion will be moderated by Marko Perälä, known as a musician and founding member of Volume ry, who works in event production and stage management.

In the panel, local music industry professionals will discuss (in Finnish) how they turned their hobby into a career and what it’s like to work in the industry. The discussion will last around two hours, and the audience will have the opportunity to join in by asking questions.

The event will conclude with a presentation of the Resonanssi (‘Resonance’) project by The Rhythm Institute, which aims to strengthen skills and employment in the music industry across Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia and Southern Ostrobothnia. The City of Vaasa’s Cultural Services is also taking part in the project.

The Resonanssi project will be presented (in Finnish) by Executive Director Satu-Maarit Veikkola from the Rhythm Institute, Resonanssi Project Manager Osku Ketola, and Head Coach Ilkka Kivimäki.

The lecture is free and open to all. The event is organised by the City of Vaasa’s Cultural Services in collaboration with Volume ry.
