Christmas in the Carpathians show is a celebration of unique Ukrainian music and dance

Published: 17.11.2025

The internationally touring Ukrainian dance and music group Hutsulia will perform at Vaasa City Hall at 18.00 on 28 November 2025. The show offers the people of Vaasa the chance to enjoy a unique cultural experience with a festive Christmas theme.

Hutsulia – Christmas in the Carpathians is a fairytale-like performance featuring Carpathian traditions and Christmas rituals. The show combines choral singing with dance, acrobatic feats, and elaborate costumes. The world-renowned dance and music group, hailing from the mountains of western Ukraine, brings a delightful burst of colour and energy to the stage.

The Christmas-themed performance at Vaasa City Hall starts at 18 on Friday 28 November and will last for one hour. Tickets are available from Netticket and Studio Ticket at Rewell Shopping Centre. Tickets cost €20, with a reduced price of €15 for pensioners, students, the unemployed, city employees, and children aged 5–17. Free admission for children under 5.

Hutsulia, which previously performed in Vaasa in 2024, has toured the world for many years. The musical culture of the Hutsul people is notable for its distinctive melodies, unique character, and distinctive musical structure. The Hutsulia group was founded in 1939 in Stanyslaviv (now Ivano-Frankivsk) to preserve this unique cultural heritage. Hutsul dance is also listed as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The event is organised by the City of Vaasa’s Cultural Services.
