Come and share your views on the winter maintenance of pedestrian and cycle paths – breakfast snacks and grilled sausages will be served!
Published: 21.1.2026
The City of Vaasa and the winter maintenance contractor 06 Infra are organising a pop-up roadside event on Thursday 29 January from 6 to 18 at the junction of Järvikatu and Wolffintie. The event is aimed at all Vaasa residents who use pedestrian and cycle paths.
Staff will be on hand for the entire event, and free snacks and drinks will be served at set times. From 6 to 9 in the morning, visitors will be treated to bread rolls and hot drinks. In the afternoon, from 14 to 18, grilled sausages will be served along with hot drinks and small sweet treats. The pop-up event will take place opposite Vaasan Sähkö.
The idea is to provide road users with the opportunity to talk about winter maintenance with the contractor and city representatives. The Finnish Road Safety Council will also be present to provide tips on winter cycling.
Improving mobility for everyone
The pop-up event is part of Vaasa’s enhanced winter maintenance programme, which allows for faster and more proactive upkeep of pedestrian and cycling paths, helping to keep them safe and accessible throughout the winter.
The goal of enhanced winter maintenance is to enable smooth and equal mobility for everyone. That is why road maintenance also takes into account the needs of pedestrians and special groups, in addition to cyclists. Enhanced winter maintenance also benefits those using mobility vehicles, as well as people with prams or walking aids.
The event is free of charge and open to all.
Vaasa has been named a European Green Leaf City for 2026. The European Commission awards this recognition annually to cities that promote sustainable development and work systematically for the environment and climate.
