New street art in Vaasa as part of an international event
Published: 23.6.2025
This summer, new street art will appear across Vaasa. New murals have been created near the Maasilta bridge and in Palosaari, Vöyrinkaupunki, and Hietalahti. The murals are part of an international street art event taking place from 27–29 June 2025.
The eight new murals are located in different neighbourhoods across the city. The artists used Vaasan Sähköverkko’s transformer buildings as their canvases for the murals.
Spot street art

You can spot them, for example:
- in Palosaari along the road leading to Mansikkasaari Isle (Pikisaarenkatu 1),
- and in the city centre at the town-side end of the Maasilta bridge.
- Several murals have been painted in Hietalahti, along Tiilitehtaankatu, at numbers 10, 44 and 45.
- In Vöyrinkaupunki, a mural has been painted on a transformer building on the southern side of Tiklaksenpuisto Park (Kalastajankatu 14).
The City of Vaasa’s Cultural Services, in collaboration with Public Utility Services, have helped make the event possible by providing surfaces for the murals. Underpasses will also be decorated over the course of the summer.
-Events like Meeting of Styles enrich urban culture, spark conversation, and introduce new forms of expression into public spaces. The event also serves to increase youth participation and promote a more open, art-friendly urban environment, says Ilkka Nyqvist, Cultural Producer.

International street art event brings top talent to Vaasa this June
Meeting of Styles, taking place from 27–29 June at Wasa Graffitilandia (Opistokatu 8), is an internationally renowned street art event that brings top artists from around the world to Vaasa – while also giving locals the chance to experience visual culture right in their own neighbourhoods.
-We wanted to create an open, free, round-the-clock gallery on the streets for everyone to enjoy, says Aku Siik, Chair of Katukulttuuri Ry, the organisation behind Wasa Graffitilandia’s Back to the Streets.
