Published: 6.2.2026
Vaasa is hosting the Young Culture Festival this April, and young local performers are encouraged to take part. Solo artists and bands, as well as creators of visual art, dance, and theatre, are welcome to apply.
The Young Culture Festival is a nationwide youth arts festival taking place in several cities in spring 2026. In Vaasa, the event will take place on 17 & 18 April,
in the Draama Room of Vaasa Main Library, as well as in other areas of the library.
Apply by 15 March
Applications to perform at the festival are open until 15 March. All young people aged 13–29 from Vaasa are welcome to apply.
– We are looking for young solo artists and bands, as well as young visual artists, to take part. In addition to bands, creators of dance and theatre performances are also welcome to apply, says Max Bäckman, Event Coordinator.
Examples of visual art include video works, such as short films, music videos, or animations, as well as drawings, paintings, or installations.
Learning is a key element
The Young Culture Festival highlights the role of young people in culture and their ability to create communities where everyone can gain new experiences, learn, and be seen.
– The festival is a unique opportunity to meet other young people involved in the arts and to learn new things, says Joni Kiviniemi, Youth Worker.
Learning is a key element of the festival. The Youth Association of Finland and the municipal sector work together to provide young people with the framework and platform to learn and network safely during the event production process. This gives young people the chance to network with professionals and contribute to activities in their own cultural environment.
