Renovation of the Hietalahti baseball stadium is complete: the stadium and junior field will open on 16 May

Last autumn, the old sand-filled artificial turf was removed from the Hietalahti baseball stadium, and part of the soil was replaced with new insulation layers. At the same time, piping for the ice rink refrigeration system was integrated into the stadium’s surface structure.

– The initial goal is to have the artificial ice rink operational for the 2026–2027 winter season, says Mika Lehtonen, Director of Sports.

New junior field for sports clubs and schools

A new sand-filled artificial turf was installed at the baseball stadium this spring. The stadium field will be ready for use after office hours on Friday, 16 May.

In addition, a new junior baseball field has been built on the former agility field south of the baseball stadium. The field is available for use by junior club players and school-age pupils.
