Roadworks to cause temporary disruption on Korkeamäki Bridge on 13 August
Published: 8.8.2025
On 13 August, the City of Vaasa’s Public Utility Services will carry out kerb works at the junction of Rantamaantie and Hirventie, near Korkeamäki Bridge. The works are expected to cause temporary disruption to traffic on the bridge during the day.
The pedestrian and cycle path on Korkeamäki Bridge will be closed temporarily during the works, but only for a few hours. Guidance will be provided on site.
Pedestrians and cyclists are kindly asked to use either the Ruutikellarintie or Karhuntie underpass during the works. Please allow extra time for journeys, such as travelling to school or work, due to the diversion. We apologise for the disruption.
Traffic lanes will be kept open where possible, but drivers are asked to be aware of any disruption caused by the roadworks.
The kerb works will take place on Wednesday 13 August, starting at around 5 in the morning, when traffic is still light.
The kerb line will be moved to make it easier for buses to turn
At the junction of Hirventie and Rantamaantie, a damaged section of kerb line will be repaired and partially moved further away from the traffic lanes over a distance of 12 metres.
This section has been identified as causing problems for buses turning right from Rantamaantie onto Hirventie towards Suvilahti.
The kerb will be moved to widen the traffic lane at the problematic spot. As a result, the pedestrian and cycle path will become slightly narrower but will remain sufficiently wide overall to allow safe and comfortable use.
