Summer flowers are blooming once again – planting will be completed by Midsummer
Published: 13.6.2025
Beautiful summer flowers are once again being planted across Vaasa to bring joy to both residents and visitors alike. This year too, a flower walk has been created around the floral displays in the city centre.
The summer flower season begins around Easter with the planting of tête-à-tête daffodils. In May, violets bloom alongside the tulips and daffodils planted in the autumn. This year, the bulbs are blooming in shades of yellow, lilac and white.
The flowerbeds are designed by the city’s landscaping department’s planning team.
– Planting in containers and flower towers typically begins in May in the greenhouses. They are then placed around the city once the risk of night frost has passed, says Åsa Enholm, Landscape Horticulturist for the City of Vaasa.

After the bulbs have finished blooming, the flower beds are fertilised and prepared for summer plantings. The summer flowers will be planted by Midsummer.
They will bring joy to residents and visitors for about four months. This year, the flower beds feature a colour palette of lilac, pink, blue and purple.
Take a flower walk and enjoy the summer blooms
Once again, a flower walk has been created around the summer flower displays. The route is 3.5 kilometres long and leads through the parks and green spaces around the Market Square, as well as along the waterfront.
