Tree branches trimmed back around street lighting

Published: 20.11.2025

This week, work will begin in Vaasa to trim back branches around the street lighting. The work aims to keep the lighting operating reliably and to prevent damage caused by branches. The lights will remain on as usual while the work is carried out.

This year, the work will start in Sundom and continue in the Gerby area. Work will take place on weekdays from 7 to 16 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

– Each year, branches and other vegetation are trimmed in different parts of Vaasa. Work is carried out in each area roughly every three years, says Harri Heino, Electrical Technician with the City of Vaasa.

The work may cause temporary traffic arrangements and some noise. The machinery will have flashing warning lights, and signs will be put up to warn road users. The City of Vaasa apologises for any inconvenience and thanks residents for their understanding.

In addition to the city’s streets and roads, branches and other vegetation are also trimmed along private roads. The work is being carried out by Destia, the city’s partner for the construction and maintenance of outdoor lighting.
