Two-way traffic resumes on Pitkäkatu

The closed lane on Pitkäkatu between Hietasaarenkatu and Hovioikeudenpuistikko was reopened on Wednesday 15 October. Vehicle traffic now flows in both directions, but the pedestrian path and parking lane on the construction site side remain closed.
Due to the renovation of the nearby hotel, one lane at Pitkäkatu 39–41 has been closed for almost a year, and traffic coming from Vaasanpuistikko has been diverted. The construction has now reached the stage where traffic on Pitkäkatu can be restored to two-way flow.
During week 43, part of the lane will still be temporarily out of use, but traffic will be guided by signs indicating right of way and give-way rules.
Minor surfacing work is still underway on the street side, and for now the parking lane and pavement are reserved for the construction site. However, most of the work will now take place on the plot side.
