Vaasa’s beaches met all quality standards
Published: 12.8.2025
The first water samples of the summer season have been taken from Vaasa’s beaches. The water at all tested beaches met the required quality standards. The water temperatures were between 14 and 15 degrees Celsius.
The water at all tested beaches met quality standards, and no blue-green algae were found. On 4 August, elevated levels of Escherichia coli bacteria were detected in the bathing water at the southern beach in Merikaarto, which led to a follow-up sample being taken on 6 August. The follow-up sample met the quality standards. The beach was closed during the testing period.
Water quality has been monitored throughout the summer
In Vaasa and Laihia, the water quality of 13 beaches is monitored during the bathing season from 15 June to 31 August 2025.
You can report bathing water quality issues via the Environmental Health Service’s online reporting service (in Finnish and Swedish). Submit an online report if
- you notice anything unusual in the bathing water, such as an abnormal colour or smell, or the presence of blue-green algae
- you become ill or experience any other reaction that you suspect may have been caused by the bathing water.
