According to the National Battery Strategy, the battery sector requires more skilled workforce, and expertise will determine Finland’s success in international competition. The goal of this network is to ensure the quality and quantity of expertise so that businesses and society can face the future challenges. The primary objective of the project is to create, strengthen, and diversify connections between educational institutions and companies operating within the battery value chain, ensuring that education offerings better align with the demands of working life and future skill needs.
To support this goal, the project will establish a strong educational network to benefit the
business sector, utilizing existing networks and projects. This network will make various
educational pathways and continuous learning opportunities within the battery value chain more visible. The initiative will be developed across organizational boundaries and educational levels. The project will also develop new methods to engage continuous learning participants more
effectively in their studies while supporting employers’ and industries’ goals for lifelong learning. Through this network, educational pathways will be aligned with the current and future needs of the labor market.
This integrated approach fosters collaboration between educational institutions and working
life, strengthening Finland’s position as a leader in innovation and sustainable development. The project enhances the competence ecosystem related to battery technology and its value chain by improving the collaboration network of Finnish educational organizations, which in
turn boosts national competitiveness. Clear new operational models will be created for a joint national education network, for example, by organizing national seminars and webinars, thus avoiding overlapping educational pathways and content.
The project’s work packages focus on developing educational pathways, strengthening collaboration with the working life, and establishing the network’s operations. Educational pathways will be designed based on existing training needs assessments, creating more
suitable methods for continuous learners to update their existing skills and acquire new
knowledge and expertise relevant to working life. In terms of work-life collaboration, networks will be developed where education providers and companies can regularly meet and exchange information and knowledge. To solidify the network’s operations, a permanent collaboration network will be established, enabling continuous interaction between education providers and businesses. The goal is to create a stable foundation for cooperation and to strengthen the battery sector’s competitiveness and expertise.
As a result of the project, a well-established and strategically managed collaboration network will be achieved, enhancing educational offerings and improving cooperation among network participants. This will help build a strong competence base for the battery sector and efficiently and proactively address future challenges. After the project concludes, the operational model will allow for the continued open functioning of the network and the expansion of new actors and stakeholders.
