Kyläturvallisuus Kyrönmaalla

In the village safety project, a participatory village safety model is developed together with residents of village areas and various partners. The aim is to activate the local community and the third sector to engage in work that promotes safety. A key objective of the project is to support the creation of new networks, embed safety work as part of everyday village life, and strengthen the safety-related competence of local actors.

The project identifies good practices in village safety and makes use of previous research, literature, and projects. The views of local residents and stakeholders are heard throughout the project, and their experiences are taken into account in the development work. Solutions to residents’ needs are sought in workshops and village meetings, where the expertise of villagers, local actors, project staff, and other specialists is combined.

The goal is to build a functional village safety model and produce training materials that promote safety. The project utilizes the concept of “village reserve,” which encompasses the village community’s preparedness, resilience, and ability to operate in various exceptional and disruptive situations. Residents and local actors are encouraged to participate actively in improving everyday safety.

The measures are carried out according to the needs of the villages, listening to, involving, and engaging residents so that the project’s results and operating models will remain in use even after the project ends. Village communities play a significant role in safety work both in everyday life and in disruptive situations, and the project helps to harness and organize this potential.
