The Vaasa Climate Commitment Carbon Neutrality Ecosystem Monitoring System investment project is a key part of the Vaasa Climate Commitment Carbon Neutrality Ecosystem development project (404689). The aim of the development project is to create a carbon neutrality ecosystem in Vaasa between different actors, to launch a campaign to involve businesses and educational institutions in the region and to develop a joint climate and adaptation roadmap. The investment project will provide a monitoring system for the effectiveness of climate roadmap’s actions, considering not only the reduction of emissions per measure, but also the role of budgeting in verifying the effectiveness of actions.
The investment project will acquire a monitoring system (SaaS platform) for Vaasa’s actions, which will enable transparent and up-to-date monitoring of the implementation of the climate and adaptation roadmap by companies, universities and the city. The tracking system will assess progress through action-specific scenario calculations, which will be acquired to quantify the project’s climate roadmap in a quantifiable form. These calculations will provide information on the emission reduction potential of individual measures and allow monitoring of progress. The system will also aim to highlight the benefits of the measures, such as cost savings, as part of the development of the climate budgeting component of the development project.
The user-friendly monitoring system will be published integrated into the city’s website, making it and the progress of the city’s climate work as a whole available to all interested parties.
