Come and watch the Finalists Film Screening at the Fanny on Sunday 02.10. from 14:00-19:00!📍Kulttuuritalo Fanny (Kirkkopuistikko 34), Vaasa. In this session we are screening: “Sensual pill” is a mini-documentary using real satellite photographs available on Google Earth. The Planet is being tyrannized by the human race, but nature begins a dialogue that gradually increases in intensity. “The Fading Nomads” is a film spanning 18 years, documenting the dramatic changes and difficult process of transitioning from nomadic to settled home lifestyle for the last Mongolian herders in a high mountain pasture called "Eternal" on the westernmost border of Xinjiang, China. “In-Tents” breaks down the barrier and personalises the homeless experience hoping to share real-life perspectives in order to de-stigmatize our neighbours in tents. Having experienced homelessness herself, Marcie recounts her time in tents and provides an understanding of the humanity that lies within the homeless population of Hamilton, Ontario. “Web of love” shows a fascinating courtship routine often overlooked in our own gardens. Can this male European garden spider pluck his way into a successful reproduction whilst staying off the menu? “Gaia” is a short film reconstructing the events that led to the ecological catastrophe we are currently experiencing, through the gradual exposure of the main character Gaia, an allegory of the Earth represented by a woman. “Najil aak” is a short documentary about the terrible environmental problem of the loss of habitat of marine turtles in the Mexican Caribbean by the growing tourist industry and the contamination of the oceans with plastic particles. “Hot Money” takes us on a journey through the complicated realities of our financial system and its profound exposure to climate change together with former NATO Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark and his son Wes Clark Jr. All films will be screened in English or will have English subtitles. #Vaasawildlifefestival #Vaasa #Filmfestival #Nature #Balticsea #20thanniversary #International #Wildlife #Festival #Film #Naturefilmfestival #Vaasavasa #Climatechange

Come and watch the Finalists Film Screening at the Fanny on Sunday 02.20. from 11:00-13:00! 🎥🥳 📍Kulttuuritalo Fanny (Kirkkopuistikko 34), Vaasa. In this session we are screening: “Braunkehlchen” sets an orgiastic firework display and shows the exuberant variety of shapes and colours of European bird life. An emotional story about the whinchat surrounds the colourful journey. A music video with a deeper meaning. “The Meadow” is a habitat close to extinction due to modern agriculture. How come this habitat only exists, if it is destroyed regularly? Why do so many creatures make their home in a meadow that is cut down by machines twice a year? Can’t we just leave the meadows alone, let them grow, and stop cutting them? “Mount Suswa - Life in a volcano” is the first film to exclusively focus on the natural history wonder that is Mount Suswa. Mount Suswa’s rugged flanks conceal an untouched treasure trove of biodiversity hidden inside its craters and in the deep and mysterious scars left behind by its turbulent past. “The Heart of the Elephant” is a documentary about love, family, and the future. It is a story of wonder woven together from a tapestry of eyewitness accounts and scientific proof of the gentle giants’ intelligence and undeniable emotional capacity, which is far more powerful than we ever acknowledged. All films will be screened in English or will have English subtitles. #Vaasawildlifefestival #Vaasa #Filmfestival #Nature #Balticsea #20thanniversary #International #Wildlife #Festival #Film #Naturefilmfestival #Vaasavasa #Climatechange #Sustainability #Health #Nature #Finland #Suomi #Movie #Documentary #Finalists #Braunkehlchen #Themeadow #Mountsuswa #Theheartoftheelephant

COME AND WATCH the Human Health Screening at the Drama Hall on Saturday 01.10.22 from 14:00-19:00! 📍Address: Kirjastonkatu 13, Vaasa. 📽In this session we are screening: 👷‍♂️“THE CHORDS OF SOUTH”Directed by: NICKOLAS TSIAMANTANIS.The documentary "The Chords of South" is an experiential recording of labor in the community service programs of OAED in Volos. The main protagonists are the workers who participate in these programs and consequently the employees who work in the cleaning service of the Municipality. In the programs we find people affected by the financial crisis, middle-aged, long-term unemployed who are paid very little money compared to the permanent and non-permanent staff of the Municipality, while claiming contract renewal and permanent employment. 🦍“ Gorilla Trekking Film (Uganda)”Directed by: Allison Carden Hanes. The "Gorilla Trekking Film (Uganda)" is based off her research and recommendations in the publication - Assessment of Health Risks Posed by Tourists Visiting Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. 🐍“Snakes and people of the Val Grande - Unexpected travel companions”Director :Marco Tessaro. It may sound strange, but for centuries humans helped out snakes. The gradual settlement of the Alps for livestock grazing created clearings, meadows, and pastures. This slow transformation of the landscape diversified natural habitats and created favorable conditions for numerous species, with some quite surprising relationships. 📽All films will be screened in English or will have English subtitles. #Vaasawildlifefestival #Vaasa #Filmfestival #Nature #Balticsea #20thanniversary #International #Wildlife #Festival #Film #Naturefilmfestival #Vaasavasa #Climatechange #Sustainability #Health #Nature #Finland #Suomi #Movie #Documentary #Human #Health #Conservation
