Bergö Hiking Path
A seven kilometer long nature trail in the on the beautiful island Bergö.
Björkö-Panike hiking trail
The hiking trail of Björkö-Panike is about 13 km long and it is located mainly on the island of Slåttskär, just in the heart of the World Heritage area. Along the trail, you will experience the calmness of the archipelago and see the signs of the land uplift; moraine ridges and closed sea bays. Sheep graze in the island during the summer, just like back in the old days.
To reach the trail, you will need boat transportation over the sounds, either from the village of Panike or from the village of Björköby. From Björköby, the boat transportation can leave either from the fishing harbour of Svedjehamn or from Långgrund’s campfire site, where you walk along a trail from Svedjehamn’s parking area (about 3,5 km).
The book-in-advance boat transportation costs about 150 €, so it might be a good idea to go with a small group. You can choose whether you hike the trail from one end to the another, or whether you hike back to you starting point; Björkö or Panike. The second option doubles the kilometres. About in the halfway of the island of Slåttskär, there is a lean-to, a composting toilet and a campfire site. This resting area is also popular destination for canoeists. The route is somewhat demanding, and the terrain is rocky or wet in places. Långgrund’s campfire site is accessible without a boat. You can read more about the trail to Långgrund here.
Bodvattnet nature trail
Bodvattnet nature trail is about 4 kilometres long. Along the trail, you will see the De Geer moraine ridges and Bodback’s old fishing harbour. The circular trail starts and ends at the parking area in Svedjehamn harbour, in the village of Björköby. The trail is suitable for the whole family, and along the trail there is a 20 meter high observation tower Saltkaret, a composting toilet and a campfire site with firewood. Parts of the trail to the observation tower and Bodback’s harbour can be accessed with pram and wheelchair. The observation tower has a lower viewing platform suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
Kikanberget Nature Trail
In Klobbskat there is a short nature trail which leads to Kikanberget (0,8 km). It starts at the coffee shop/restaurant in the harbour and leads along the shore to the top of Kikanberget.
Easy in the beginning, to climb up the Kikanberget hill is a bit more demanding.
Mickelsörarna Nature Trail
Mickelsörarna Nature Trail on Kummelskär Island is about 2 km long. On this nature trail, visitors are able to see the geology, vegetation and animals of the land uplift shores, foundations of old fishing huts and boat docks from the 16th century.
The trail starts from the yard of the Mickelsörarna Nature Station and is only available by boat.
Molpehällorna Nature Trail
Molpehällorna Nature Trail is about 2 km long and starts from the yard of the Molpe Nature station.
Along the nature trail you’ll see the geology, vegetation and animals of the land uplift shores as well as a reconstruction of the Molpehällorna “vippbåk” beacon (which is a memorial for the first beacon in the Gulf of Bothnia).
The trail is available only by boat.
Sommarö Nature Trail
The Sommarö Nature Trail is located in the area of the former Sommarö fort, in Södra Vallgrund.
There are two trails in the area. The shorter circular trail (1.5 km/2.4 km) leads through a memorial for the coastal artillery fort to the beach at the camping area. The longer trail leads to the Sommarösund beach in Södra Vallgrund (7 km). Along the longer trail, you will see a geologically fascinating giant’s kettle, as well as cultural landscape (including stone fences).
There are two campfire sites and dry toilets, tables and benches along the Paths. In the yard of the Sommarö guardhouse there is a lean-to shelter (in public use). An information board (including maps) at each end of the trail and five information boards along the trail.
Valsörarna Nature Trail
Valsörarna Nature Trail is a 2,5 km long nature trail from the pier of Ebbskär in the north to the pier of Storskäret in the south.
Along the trail you can see the geology, vegetation and animals of the land uplift shores, a memorial for Russian soldiers, and the famous lighthouse.
Valsörarna is an island group located outer in the Kvarken, about 15 km Northwest from Björkö. Already in the 1948 Valsörarna has been a birdprotection area.
The nature trail is available only by boat.

Västerö Hiking Trails
Västerö Hiking Trails are situated in the outer archipelago of the municipality of Vörå and can be reached by car. The trail starts from the parking areas on Söderskatavägen and Equityvägen, and the visitor can choose trails from 3 km up to 12 km. A map for the area is found in the parking area. There are also maps along the trail.
Along the trails there are a memorial for the Equity (a ship that carried weapons during the civil war in Finland), the cliffs of Ryssberget, the old land uplift forests, bays, flads and seashores.
There are campfire sites and resting spots, dry toilets, two huts to be used as rest spots (they are not meant for overnight stays). NOTE! No wood supply.
