The ferry across Korsbådafjärden will operate from May 10th in 2025

The electric ferry across Korsbådafjärden is back in service. Hikers will be able to enjoy the Kvarken Archipelago World Heritage Site in many different ways again this summer. The ferry across Korsbådafjärden, which is part of the Björkö-Panike hiking trail in the Kvarken Archipelago, starts operating on May 10th this summer.

In 2024, Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife renewed the 23-kilometer hiking trail between Björköby and Panike in cooperation with the Kvarken World Heritage Site Association, the municipality of Korsholm and the Björkö co-owners’ association. As a result of the development work, two new resting places were opened on the Björkö-Panike hiking trail, and new footbridges, signs and trail markings were installed.

The biggest news on the trail was the ferry across Korsbådafjärden, which began operating in June 2024. This summer, the solar-powered cable ferry is back in operation. The ferry is unmanned this summer; hikers will use the automatic ferry on their own.

The electric ferry will operate in good weather until the end of September according to the following timetable

10.5 – 15.6.2025 Sat-Sun 10-18

16.6 – 15.8.2025: Mon-Sun 10-18

16.8 – 30.9.2025: Sat-Sun 10-18

There is always one person in charge of the ferry during each trip. To be allowed to drive the ferry, you must be at least 15 years old and be able to carry out strong identification. Instructions for identification are available at the Korsbådafjärden ferry terminal, https://www.neilos.fi/kirjaudu and at the Kvarken World Heritage Gateway Visitor Centre in Replot. At the Visitor Centre you can get a pin code if yuo’re not able to register with strong identification.

On days with low water levels or strong winds, the ferry is not in operation.
