Collision Festival 2026 – Unknown Frequencies: experimental art, electronic music and performance at Vaasa City Hall.
Collision Festival 2026, curated by Collision Art Collective, takes place at Vaasa City Hall, a historic and prestigious venue traditionally associated with classical concerts and official cultural events. Bringing contemporary and experimental practices into this space is both a challenge and an opportunity.
The festival aims to offer a new perspective on the City Hall – returning it to the people, as it was originally intended – by opening its doors to contemporary sound, performance, visual art, and experimental artistic practices. For two days, the iconic building will host electronic music, club culture, and interdisciplinary performances rarely associated with such formal architectural and cultural contexts.
Collision Festival highlights artistic practices often confined to peripheral, industrial, or temporary spaces and places them at the heart of Vaasa’s cultural life. In doing so, the festival seeks to blur the boundaries between “high” and “low” culture, challenge traditional hierarchies, and create a refined yet radical environment for contemporary artistic expression.
On September 4–5, 2026, Collision Festival transforms the City Hall into a space for dialogue, experimentation, and shared experiences – where elegance meets intensity, and tradition resonates with unknown frequencies.
