Welcome to the May Day Concert at Kristinestad City Museum Carlsro on May 1 at 6:00 PM.
The indiefolk-pop duo Vellamo’s songs portray life through stories and momentary snapshots infused with the atmosphere of the harbor district of Ykspihlaja. Singer-songwriter Pia Leinonen and guitarist Joni Tiala come together in the Vellamo duo with an ethereal sound and everyday storytelling. At concerts, Vellamo’s electronic arrangements are distilled into live versions carried by two guitars, harmonica, and narrative vocals. In addition to performing in their home country, Vellamo has toured internationally: to date, the duo has completed nine tours in the United States as well as two tours in Europe and New Zealand. Vellamo has released five albums: Vellamo (2013), Trad (2014), Koskenkylä (2015), Pikaruokaa ja rakkautta (2024), and Reflections (2026). Vellamo’s music has been heard both on the radio and on Spotify’s official editorial playlists.
Tickets for the concert (€15) are sold at the door at Carlsro.
