IdKa Jazz from Malmö plays the music of Ida Karlsson-Wretling, with influences from the 1960s jazz era.The quartet’s genre is Nordic jazz with clear roots from the 1950s and 60s. Its inspiration sources are Lars Gullin, Dexter Gordon and other tenorists, as well as Ida’s own upbringing, choir singing, gospel music and Psalm book-inspired piano fiddling. The quartet alternates between fine-tuned harmonies and energetic swing, along with soft, heartfelt ballads and delirious solos.
IdKa Jazz is located in Malmö and all of its musicians have completed the Malmö Academy of musics’ jazz musician program, in different rounds.
Their debut album “The Onion’s Core” was released in 2018 (at Gammalthea). Album no 2 will be recorded in May 2022.
