Welcome to a Journey Through Time: Ostrobothnia Regiment 400 Years!
On July 4–5, 2026, Oravais will be transformed into a living window to the past. The Oravais Historical Society invites you to a grand anniversary celebration marking 400 years of military history, culture, and human stories. Experience history up close as the area around Furirsbostället fills with period camps, exciting activities, and drama spanning from the 17th century to the present day.
Program for Visitors:
Saturday, July 4th: The Grand Public Day
A day full of activity for the whole family! Wander through historical camps and see what life was like in the past. Meet Carolinians, Gustavians, civil guards, and modern-day soldiers. Witness military drills, historical crafts, and live performances. At Furirsbostället, Gamlakarleby Auktionskammare will host a large Antique & Militaria Market. At 11:00 AM, parts of the historical troops will also perform in Vörå town center.
Sunday, July 5th: Dunker’s Day & Reflection
We will hold a solemn wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the Battle of Hörnefors (1809), with representatives from the Finnish and Swedish Defence Forces. Attend insightful lectures and experience a moving theatrical performance about the role of women in war. The play is written and adapted into Swedish by Ann-Luise Bertell and directed by Olha Zubkova (ArtTerra). We conclude the day together with a warm soup.
