Simon Zion & Ville Luukkonen Trio was created through a musical friendship and as an opportunity to share musical moments together with the live audience.
Simon Zion is a guitar player, vocalist, songwriter & producer. Originally from Finland but residing in Sweden since childhood. He made a name for himself in commercial TV in Swedish Idol 2015. And has since then continued to pursue his artistic lifestyle, writing, recording and releasing music through vast musical genres and working around the world, from Stockholm to Los Angeles. Together with Ville Luukkonen (drums) he has now recorded a very intimate jazzalbum ”The Ballad Sessions”, including some of Finlands finest jazz musicians, including Tuomo Uusitalo on piano, and Juuso Rinta on the upright bass. Simon has for the longest time been longing to emphasize his roots in the jazz repertoire and as a male jazz vocalist. And the musical connection with Ville Luukkonen was the key to make this happen. ”The Ballad Sessions” album is recorded at E-Studio, Finland, engineered, co-produced, mixed and mastered by Tommi Vainikainen.
As an artist Simon Zion is known to give captivating live performances with his presence on stage, either solo with a loop station, with his trio or and with jazz big bands. Simon Zion & Ville Luukkonen Trio will be touring through Europe in 2024 with this new jazz concept and is looking very much forward to meet his audience in this setting.
