The Youth Employment Voucher is now available in the Ostrobothnia Employment Area. The subsidy is aimed at companies and designed to make it easier for unemployed young people aged 18–29 to enter the private labor market by temporarily reducing the employer’s recruitment costs.

The Employment Voucher covers 50% of wage costs, up to a maximum of 1,500 euros per month and no more than 9,000 euros over a six-month period. The subsidy applies to wage costs only and does not cover any related social security costs. The grant is awarded as de minimis aid.

Who Is the Support Intended For?

The Employment Voucher is aimed at companies that hire an unemployed young person aged 18–29 for an employment relationship lasting at least six months. The position may be fixed-term or permanent, but the subsidy is paid for a maximum of six months.

The subsidy may also be granted for part-time work or apprenticeship training if the granting authority considers it to promote the young person’s employment.

A condition for receiving the support is that the young person’s home municipality must be within the Ostrobothnia Employment Area (Kaskinen, Korsnäs, Laihia, Malax, Korsholm, Närpes, Nykarleby, Vaasa, or Vörå), and that the young person meets the conditions relating to unemployment or educational background.

How to Apply for the Youth Employment Voucher

The application is submitted once a suitable young employee has been selected. The Ostrobothnia Employment Area processes applications and grants support on a discretionary basis within the limits of available funding. If support is granted, the Employment Area and the employer enter into an agreement on the use of the subsidy and payment arrangements.

The Ostrobothnia Employment Area can also assist in finding a suitable young person to meet the company’s needs, if required.
