Come and share your views on the winter maintenance of pedestrian and cycling paths – grilled sausages available for the first 50 attendees

Published: 7.3.2025

The City of Vaasa and the winter maintenance contractor 06 Infra are organising a roadside event on Tuesday, 11 March, from 14 to 18 for all users of pedestrian and cycling paths in Vaasa. The event will take place in Onkilahti Park, near the Paperisilta bridge. Grilled sausages will be available for the first 50 attendees, and light refreshments will be offered to all.

The event is part of Vaasa’s enhanced winter maintenance programme, which enables quicker and more proactive upkeep of pedestrian and cycling paths to ensure they remain safe and accessible even in winter.

The aim of the event is to provide residents with the opportunity to discuss winter maintenance with the contractor and city representatives, as well as to enjoy the day with other cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts.

Take part in the raffle and test-ride bikes

Bicycle shops Cycli and Viertola will be present, offering attendees the chance to test-ride their bikes. The Finnish Road Safety Council Liikenneturva will also be present to provide tips on winter cycling.

You can also participate in a cycling-themed survey at the event, with prizes donated by the bike shop Cycli to be raffled among attendees. The prizes include products and a gift card for bike maintenance.

Enhanced mobility for all

The goal of enhanced winter maintenance is to enable smooth and equal mobility for everyone. That is why road maintenance also takes into account the needs of pedestrians and special groups, in addition to cyclists. Enhanced winter maintenance also benefits those using electric scooters or mobility vehicles, as well as people with prams or walking aids.

The event is free and open to all.
