Early childhood education and care places are now applied for in the Edlevo app
Published: 27.10.2025
In Vaasa, applications for early childhood education and care (ECEC) placements will be made through the Edlevo App in future. Filling in an application requires strong identification using Suomi.fi credentials.
Edlevo is a digital service used for ECEC-related matters in Vaasa. Its use is free of charge for ECEC clients. The app is already used for booking care times, communicating between ECEC and families, and reporting income information.
Only guardians can complete a new application
Log in to the Edlevo app using Suomi.fi identification with your online banking credentials, or mobile identification. Only the child’s parent or guardian can submit a new application
– In the old system, the identity of the person completing the application was not verified; the new system offers better data protection and security when handling personal information, says Sari Ylikantola, Project Manager.
Placements are suggested through the app
After submitting an application, parents or guardians can track its progress in the app. As the start date for early childhood education and care approaches, the parent or guardian will receive a suggested placement for their child in Edlevo.
After accepting the offered placement, the parent or guardian will also receive the electronic service decision in the Edlevo app.

All ECEC services in one app
A system reform is underway in Vaasa City’s early childhood education and care, designed to simplify daily life for families and the work of staff.
The aim of the reform is to use a single service, Edlevo, for all ECEC related matters. Currently, several different systems and applications are in use.
