Museums have plenty of summer programmes in July

In July, Vaasa City Museums are organising workshops for the whole family as well as other summer programmes, such as a painting event in the garden of the Tikanoja Art Museum on 9 July and 15-minute presentations by artists in the Ostrobothnian Museum.

In July, bilingual workshops for the whole family are arranged as follows:

  • Ostrobothnian Museum workshops
  • Tuesdays (4.7, 11.7, 18.7 and 25.7) at 10:00 and 14:00

In the fan workshop, we get to know our own mental landscape and take a short tour of the exhibition KONTAKTi – The Memory of a Landscape.

  • Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art workshops
  • Wednesdays (5.7, 12.7, 19.7 and 26.7) at 11:00 and 14:00

In the workshop, we will learn about abstract composition with crayon and watercolours and take a short tour of the Swanljung Collection – Follow Your Heart.

  • Tikanoja Art Gallery workshops
  • Thursdays (6.7, 13.7, 20.7 and 27.7) at 10:00 and 14:00

In the workshop, we will make paper plants using different techniques and take a short tour of Kaarina Heikinheimo’s current exhibition: 5+ rooms.

  • Museum of Old Vaasa workshops
  • Fridays (7.7, 14.7, 21.7 and 28.7) at 10:00 and 14:00

At the Museum of Old Vaasa you can draw and write with an old-fashioned ink pen. The workshops include a short tour of the museum.

Workshops are included in the museum entrance fee. Entry to the Museum of Old Vaasa and its workshops is free.

Painting event at Tikanoja Art Gallery on 9 July

A painting event open to the public will be held in the garden of the Tikanoja Art Gallery on Sunday 9 July from 11:00 to 14:00. The painting event will be a pre-celebration of the Finnish Visual Arts Day, which is celebrated in honour of Helene Schjerfbeck’s (1862–1946) birthday. The event is carried out in cooperation with Vaasa artists’ guild, Vaasan Taiteilijaseura ry, and is led by the artist Marita Perttula.

Vaasa City Museums will provide easels, paper, brushes and cover paint, but if you want to paint on canvas with oil paints or other tools, it is recommended to bring them with you. Admission to the garden event is free. There is an entrance fee to the museum’s exhibitions.

15-minute presentations by artists at the Ostrobothnian Museum

The Ostrobothnian Museum is hosting a curated member exhibition of the Vaasa Artists’ Guild and the Ostrobothnian Artists’ Association. During the summer, the exhibition’s artists are on site in the museum. They talk about their works and how they work.
