New playground equipment to be installed at Laivapuisto in Onkilahti

This autumn, a highly requested zip line and climbing tower will be installed at Laivapuisto playground. More trees and other plants will also be planted in the area. Work will begin on Tuesday, 26 August, and the new play equipment is expected to be ready for use by the beginning of November.
The construction site will be contained within Laivapuisto, and part of the playground will be closed while work is underway. Other play equipment will remain in use wherever possible. The work will be carried out by the city’s landscaping team, with excavation handled by a contractor.
Development of the park continues
Onkilahdenpuisto Park is being developed based on the master plan approved last year by the Urban Environment Board. Residents were also invited to participate in the planning and share their views on the master plan. The zip line was particularly requested by children.
The purpose of the master plan is to develop Onkilahdenpuisto Park as a whole, and it will be implemented gradually over the next 10–15 years. One of the main goals is to encourage physical activity among children and young people.
