Ostrobothnia Museum Day will be celebrated with open doors on 24 August
Published: 18.8.2025
The purpose of Museum Day is to showcase Ostrobothnia’s many museums and the voluntary work that preserves local heritage. This year, 28 museums from across Ostrobothnia will take part in Museum Day.
The participating museums will be open on Sunday 24 August 2025, with some offering on-site guides to share insights into the exhibits and the museum’s activities. Museums will also organise additional activities to mark the occasion. In Vaasa, the participating museums include Museum of Old Vaasa, Vähäkyrö Museum, Fyrry Tinsmith Museum, Vaasa Maritime Museum and Brage Open-Air Museum, among others.
The Ostrobothnia Museum Day is part of the European Heritage Days celebrations. The theme for 2025 is ‘Our Built Heritage’.
– Built heritage is showcased particularly well in local heritage museums and their surroundings. South Ostrobothnia and Central Ostrobothnia will hold their own Museum Day events at the same time, says Kaj Höglund, Provincial Curator from Vaasa Museums.
The first Museum Day in Ostrobothnia was organised last year and proved highly popular.
