Pianist Olli Mustonen stars in the Vaasa City Orchestra’s autumn season

Published: 1.10.2026

The audience is treated with two concerts on 8.10. and 9.10. at Vaasa City Hall

What connects the Vaasa City Hall’s main hall and London’s famous Wigmore Hall? Pianist Olli Mustonen and Beethoven’s music. One of the most significant and versatile pianists of our time, Mustonen appears with the Vaasa City Orchestra in a dual role, conducting and performing as a soloist at Vaasa City Hall on Thursday 8.10. at 18:00. The concert program features two true classics: Beethoven’s “Emperor Concerto” and his First Symphony.

On Friday 9.10. at 18:00, this unique artist takes the stage alone, performing four of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. The concert is named Appassionata, after Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57, which the composer reportedly considered the closest to himself of all his piano sonatas. The music reflects the deafening despair and stormy passion of the composer’s life – all this performed by Olli Mustonen, famous for his Beethoven interpretations.

With a GRANDE season ticket, you have access to both Beethoven I and Appassionata – concerts, as well as all autumn season concerts except the children’s concert. With a PRONTO season ticket, you can attend the concerts on 8.10., 29.10. 3.12.
