Railway level crossings to be closed for maintenance work in late August

The railway level crossings on Konepajankatu, Strömberginkatu and Huutoniementie will be undergoing maintenance at the end of August. The work will be carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic.
The level crossing on Strömberginkatu will be closed on Wednesday 26 August from 20.20 to midnight. During the closure, motorists will be diverted via Yhdystie and via Rantamaantie, Ruutikellarintie and Huutoniementie. Pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted via Korkeamäki.

The Huutoniementie level crossing will be closed overnight on Thursday 27 August from midnight to 6.00. During the closure, motorists travelling from Huutoniemi towards the city centre will be diverted via Sairaskodinkatu, while traffic from the city centre towards Huutoniemi and Vähäkyrö will be diverted via Ruutikellarintie, Rantamaantie and Strömberginkatu. Pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted via Itäinen Ratakatu.

The Konepajankatu level crossing will undergo more extensive maintenance work, requiring the street to be closed on two nights. The first closure will begin on Thursday 27 August at 20.00 and end on Friday 28 August at 9.00. The second closure will begin on Friday 28 August at 20.00 and end on Saturday 29 August at 6.00.
During the closures, motorists will be diverted via Pitkäkatu and Vuorikatu, and via Asemakatu and Sepänkyläntie. Pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted via Semaforinkuja.

The maintenance work will also affect public transport
The closure of the level crossings will affect Lifti bus lines 44 and 7.
Line 44
On Thursday 27 August, the 5.25 morning service from the city centre towards Old Vaasa will follow a diversion route via Ratakatu, Asemakatu, Sepänkyläntie, Sairaskodinkatu and Strömberginkatu.
The first morning service on line 44 will therefore not stop at the Klemetinkatu, Ravikatu or Ruutikellarintie stops.
Line 7
On Thursday 27 August and Friday 29 August, the last services on line 7 in both directions, as well as the morning services on Thursday until 9.00, will follow a diversion route via Hietasaarenkatu, Pitkäkatu, Vuorikatu, Vöyrinkatu and Konepanjakatu. This will not affect any bus stops.
