Repair work at traffic light junctions in Vaasa to start on 4 May
Published: 30.4.2026
Across Vaasa, traffic signal detectors will be repaired over the summer, from 4 May to 7 August 2026. Work is carried out on weeknights between 20 and 06 to keep disruption to traffic to a minimum. During the day, the traffic lights operate normally.
The repairs involve replacing inductive loop detectors located beneath the asphalt that detect vehicles and control the traffic lights. Refurbishing the detectors will help improve traffic flow in the future.
The work will start in the city centre and progress in stages to other parts of the city. During the repair work, the traffic lights will flash amber, and lanes may be temporarily closed. However, it will usually still be possible to pass through the junctions. Drivers are kindly asked to take extra care when passing the work sites.
The work will cause noise, which may temporarily disturb sleep at night. The City of Vaasa and the contractor apologise for the inconvenience.
The work is carried out by NRC Group Finland Oy.
