The city of Vaasa’s student administration system Wilma has faced a security breach

In December, Vaasa’s student administration system Wilma faced a data breach. Accessing the interface by misusing credentials, the attacker was able to send messages and had access to personal data stored in the system for the duration of the breach.
– The offence has been reported to the police, who will investigate the breach in further detail. There is no evidence that the data breach has led to any misuse of the leaked data. The people concerned have been notified, says Tanja Markkula, the data protection officer of the city of Vaasa.
The city has taken the necessary actions, and the people concerned have received advice.
