The Peipponen playground to be refurbished in early summer
Published: 6.5.2026
The City of Vaasa will carry out improvement works at the Peipponen playground in Vetokannas starting on Monday 11 May. The playground will be completely closed for the duration of the works, which are scheduled for completion in the second week of June.
At the playground, worn-out play structures will be replaced, the lighting improved and new greenery planted. In addition, bike racks will be installed.
The number of play structures will remain the same, but upgrades are planned. The old slide will be replaced with a new, more versatile one and in place of the old shelter, a balance bridge made of ropes will be built.
The city is refurbishing and upgrading playgrounds in stages across Vaasa. The aim is to keep the playgrounds safe and enjoyable.
UNICEF has recognised the City of Vaasa as a Child-Friendly Municipality. In a child-friendly municipality, children’s wellbeing and rights are top priorities. This is reflected in all aspects of the municipality’s daily operations and decision-making.
