The Welcome Office’s Ask & Connect online sessions support newcomers to Vaasa
Published: 20.5.2026
This spring, the City of Vaasa’s Welcome Office has launched Ask & Connect online sessions that offer newcomers to Vaasa and local residents easy access support with everyday questions. The online sessions are held every other Friday, and you can join in without registering in advance.
The aim of the Ask & Connect sessions is to strengthen inclusion, provide early guidance and support peer‑to‑peer connections. At the first sessions this spring, participants discussed topics such as language learning and wellbeing, and their feedback has been positive.
– We hope Ask & Connect will become an easy and welcoming online space where new Vaasa residents can meet one another, share experiences, and feel a sense of belonging in the local community, says Petra Winberg, Service Advisor.
Upcoming themes in the spring and early summer
During the spring and early summer, the Ask & Connect online sessions will explore topical themes that reflect participants’ interests:
- 22 May – Employment
- 5 June – Leisure opportunities in the summer
Each session always includes time for open questions, discussion and sharing experiences with other participants.
Easy to join online
The Ask & Connect sessions take place online via Microsoft Teams, and participants can join flexibly to fit their own schedules. The sessions are free of charge and open to anyone interested in life in Vaasa and everyday topics in general. The sessions are held in English.
