Vaasa is giving away free tree saplings to residents

Published: 2.10.2025

The city of Vaasa will be giving away free tree saplings on Thursday 9 October, from 16.00 to 18.00 at the Vaasa City Garden at Rantamaantie 5.

One sapling will be given per family member, and the trees must be planted on your own property. The available species are spruce, pine, and silver birch. The number of saplings is limited.

The ‘A tree for every resident’ project began in spring 2024 and will run until the end of 2027. Its purpose is to support the city’s aim of achieving climate neutrality during the 2020s.

A total of 70,000 trees will be planted as part of the project, meaning approximately 17,500 saplings will be planted each year. The city is inviting residents, communities, and companies to join the planting effort by distributing free tree saplings.
